The students of the Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies hosted their annual and the 15th edition of the conference GeoMundus. It was held on October 20-21, 2023 at the School of Technology and Experimental Sciences, Universitat Jaime I, Castelló, Spain. The specific approach of GeoMundus is a free conference organized by students for students.

Highlights of the scientific programme were the four invited keynote speakers:

Prof. Dr. Andy Nelson from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, the Netherlands, presented The role of Earth observation in improving food systems, which aims to present how Earth observation and other geographic information can help understand the pressures and factors influencing food systems, thereby contributing to a more food secure future. Dr. Qiusheng Wu from the Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville that presented Interactive Geospatial Analysis with Cloud Computing and Open Source Software, he is the creator of several open-source packages designed for advanced geospatial analysis and visualization. Aida Monfort Muriarch a UJI GEOTEC’s group reasearcher currently working for the United Nations who presented Gender equity in the GI/EO sector initiatives: Women in Copernicus and Women+ in Geospatial, that are initiatives that want to empower, inspire, and make visible women working in the GIS and EO sectors. And Maria Arias De Reyna Dominguez from Sevilla, Spain president of OSGeo, presented The Future of the Developer Tooling for Geospatial.

The programme included scientific presentations of students’ papers, a career development session, an alumni session, and three parallel hands-on workshops.
