Career event with con terra and 52N

Con terra GmbH and 52°North GmbH are the local associated partners of the GeoTech programme in Münster (see Associated partners – Mastergeotech Mastergeotech). The main task of the associated partners is support the students by career development activities.

In this context, the two partners organized a career event at the Institute for Geoinformatics in Münster on November 21, 2024.

Alaa Bakry Abdelfattah started the event with an overview on con terra’s activities and projects, e.g., a Geoportal for the International Red Cross, and a winter street maintenance and management system in Bavaria, and their used technologies. Dr. Benedikt Gräler presented the activities of 52N as a non-for-profit organization. 52N is
participating in R&D projects, provides open source solutions, and is committed to research to unlock the value of Geospatial Data.

The company presentations were followed by presentions and intensive discussion about job opportunities, career perspectives, required skills, and hints for career development. The event provided the students with valuable insights into career perspectives from companies’ point of view. The companies’ feedback to the event was very positive as well, getting information about the students’ different backgrounds and possibly having access to potential employees.
