We gladly announce that Dr. Ana María Bustamante Duarte, Universidade de los Andes, Colombia, serves an “Ethical issues and equal opportunities advisor” for our Erasmus Mundus Master in Geospatial Technologies.
Dr. Ana María Bustamante Duarte, as of January 2023, had been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Design (ArcDis) at the Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. She has extensive expertise in ethical, integrity, and diversity and equity questions as well as a deep understanding of the domain of geospatial technologies. During her PhD, she developed inclusive approaches to support forced migrants participation in the design of interactive geotechnologies that helped them to navigate their new host cities. After completing her doctoral studies, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente, the Netherlands. The she was part of INECIS, an NWO funded project, investigating informal economies and creative industries strategies, relationships, and governance arrangements along with the socio-spatial dynamics derived from such interactions in urban kampungs in Bandung, Indonesia. She then became a Research Support Officer in Ethics, Integrity, and Data Policy at the same faculty. At the Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, she will conduct research on social architecture and urbanism issues. In particular, she aims to explore the role of design ethics and geo-ethics in the processes leading to re-imagining urban spaces and (digital) infrastructure.
In her role as the “Ethical issues and equal opportunities advisor”, we aim to
– share with her future versions of reports and documents related to ethical issues and equal opportunities so that she could comment;
– contact her in case particularly challenging issues arise in this context to solicit her advice;
– be open to suggestions for specific workshops, events, seminars she would be interested in providing to the students related to ethical, integrity, and diversity and equity issues.
